Detailed 4 Day 3 Night Itinerary

A day-by-day private adventure across East Java.

Day 1

Surabaya / Malang to Tumpak Sewu Area

10:00 AM pickup

Your journey begins with pickup from Surabaya or Malang. The first visit is Singosari Temple, one of the historical remains of the great Singosari Kingdom in Malang. After that, continue to the colorful village in Malang before driving to the Tumpak Sewu area.

From Malang: ~2 hours · From Surabaya: ~4 hours

Stay: Tumpak Sewu Homestay with breakfast (or similar)

Highlight: Peaceful village atmosphere near Mount Semeru.

Day 2

Semeru Lava Flow, Kapas Biru, Tumpak Sewu → Bromo

~4:30 AM start

Start early to explore the Semeru lava flow area and enjoy the morning atmosphere near Mount Semeru. Continue to Kapas Biru panoramic viewpoint. The main highlight of the day is Tumpak Sewu Waterfall with a local guide. Afterwards, drive toward the Bromo area, optionally passing one of the villages affected by the 2021 Semeru eruption.

Tumpak Sewu → Bromo: ~5 hours

Stay: Bawangan Express Bromo with breakfast (or similar)

Note: Bromo area can be cold, around 8–12°C at night and early morning.

Day 3

Bromo Sunrise, Crater, Jabung Temple → Ijen Area

~2:30 AM start

A local guide and Jeep driver will accompany you to the panoramic sunrise viewpoint and Bromo crater. The 4x4 Jeep crosses the sea of sand — a bumpy, exciting, unforgettable ride. After exploring Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, return for breakfast and check out. On the way to Ijen, visit Jabung Temple, a unique historical site from the Majapahit Kingdom.

Bromo → Ijen: ~6 hours

Stay: Ijen View with breakfast (or similar)

Highlight: Sunrise above the clouds at Bromo.

Day 4

Ijen Crater, Blue Flame, Sunrise → Ketapang Harbor

12:30 AM departure

A professional local guide will accompany you. If weather, volcanic activity, regulations, and safety conditions allow, you may witness the famous blue flame. After the hike, return to the hotel for breakfast and continue to Ketapang Harbor where the tour finishes.

Schedule: 12:30 start · 02:00 climb · 04:00 blue flame & sunrise · 07:00 back to parking · 11:00 depart to Ketapang (~1.5h)

End: Ketapang Harbor — perfect for travelers continuing to Bali
